Hi-Low Beds Sorted by the Job They Do

Instead of listing beds by brand, we have grouped them by the three reasons Mesa families most often call us. Start with the group that sounds like your home.

When someone else is helping

Tuffcare Century

Long Term Care Bed T7036 and T7042

  • ProblemA diagnosis like Parkinson's or MS means today's needs are not next year's. The bed that suits now may be too little in a year.
  • Left aloneFamilies end up buying twice, or making do with a bed that cannot tilt, cannot take rails and cannot keep working through an outage.
  • The fixBuy once for where things may head. One five-function pendant handles height, head, foot, Trendelenburg, reverse Trendelenburg and a lawn-chair position. Optional half rails, 9 inches of under-frame clearance for a patient lift, and a backup battery good for up to 7 minutes are ready when needed.
  • T7036: 36 x 80 in., to 600 lb.
  • T7042: 42 x 80 in.
  • Two-piece split frame
  • Eight locking casters

  • ProblemRaise the head of a bed and the person in it slowly slides toward the foot. By morning they are bunched up and uncomfortable.
  • Left alonePulling a loved one back up the mattress several times a day is one of the hardest jobs a family caregiver does, and one of the likeliest to hurt a back.
  • The fixAlong with hi-low height and head and foot articulation, the Supernal 5 offers Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg tilt. Many care teams use a brief tilt to let gravity help with repositioning, so ask yours how to use it safely. All of it sits inside an upholstered frame that looks like bedroom furniture.
  • Trendelenburg and reverse
  • Zero gravity
  • Twin XL, Full XL, Queen, Dual King

Supernal 3 Hi-Low

  • ProblemCasitas, park models and guest rooms are compact. A bulky medical bed swallows the room and pushes the nightstand out of reach.
  • Left aloneYou stretch for your glasses, phone and water from a bed that is the wrong height, which is exactly when a reach turns into a fall.
  • The fixThe Supernal 3 hugs the wall as it raises the head, so the nightstand stays at your fingertips. It lowers very close to the floor for a safe sit and rises for an easy stand, in sizes down to Twin XL, with hidden motors and an optional rail that moves with the bed.
  • Wall-hugging design
  • Very low minimum height
  • Twin XL, Full XL, Queen, Dual King

Flexabed Hi-Low SL

  • ProblemMoving between a wheelchair and a bed is easiest when the two are level. Most beds are several inches too high or too low.
  • Left aloneEvery uphill or downhill transfer takes more strength, leans harder on whoever is helping and raises the odds of a slip.
  • The fixThe Hi-Low SL lifts straight up and down at the touch of a button, so the mattress can be set level with the wheelchair seat for a smoother side-to-side move. A therapist can advise on the safest technique. Independent head and foot on each side, hand-built to order, with rail covers and underbed lights available.
  • Vertical hi-low lift
  • Independent sides
  • Hand-built to order

The Dawn House Bed

  • ProblemYou go to bed tired and still wake exhausted, and you cannot say what is going wrong in between.
  • Left alone“I don't sleep well” gives your doctor little to work with, so months pass with no clearer picture and no better nights.
  • The fixSensors built into the base passively track heart rate, breathing, movement and sleep stages with nothing to wear, and turn them into reports you can review and share. Automatic anti-snore lift, zero-gravity positioning, Rise to Wake and hi-low height help the nights themselves go better.
  • Passive sleep sensors
  • Voice, app and remote
  • Underbed lighting
  • Optional support rail

Ascend High-Low Adjustable Bed with Tilt

  • ProblemLying flat leaves your lower back aching, and a pillow under the knees never stays put.
  • Left aloneYou wake stiff, start the day sore and begin to dread bedtime, which only makes sleep harder to come by.
  • The fixOne touch brings the Ascend into zero gravity, lifting the head and legs slightly to ease pressure on the lower back. A full-bed tilt of up to 7 degrees suits side and stomach sleepers, and about 7 inches of hi-low lift, three programmable presets and double-click to flat make getting up easier.
  • Zero gravity
  • Tilt to 7 degrees
  • About 17.9 to 25.4 in. high

Latexpedic Natural Latex Mattresses

Made by hand in our own factory, sold factory direct, and built to bend with every bed on this page.

That new-mattress smell in a closed-up house

Many mattresses arrive glued together from synthetic foams, and in a house kept shut against summer heat, or a smaller winter home, that new-mattress smell has nowhere to go. You notice it every night as you turn in.

Latexpedic mattresses are made from three natural ingredients: latex from the sap of the rubber tree, cotton quilting, and wool that serves as a natural fire barrier. Each one is assembled by hand without glue. The result is a mattress that breathes, springs back and moves with your hi-low bed.

  • Factory directElectropedic makes, sells, delivers and stands behind every mattress. No middleman.
  • Handmade, one at a timeEach mattress is crafted individually by our family's craftsmen.
  • Fully reversibleLatex from top to bottom, so it can be flipped for longer, even wear.
  • Quilted on both sidesCotton and wool on each face for the same soft feel either way up.
  • Handles and a zipperHandles to turn it; a zippered cover so the firmness can be changed.
  • 20-year limited warrantyFrom a family that has been in the bed business since 1964.
  1. Choose your profile

Three heights, each one made to flex with an adjustable or hi-low bed.

    Latexpedic 7-inch natural latex mattress

    7-Inch

Lightest to handle and easiest to flip; the natural match for beds with rails.

    Latexpedic 10-inch natural latex mattress

    10-Inch

A deeper layer of comfort for afternoons spent reading or resting in bed.

The Ultimate 12-inch Latexpedic latex mattress

    12-Inch

The Ultimate: three latex layers for our most cushioned, luxurious feel.

  2. Choose your firmness

All three profiles are made in each of these four firmnesses, softest to firmest.

    • Soft

Sink-in comfort for side sleepers and sensitive pressure points.

    • Regular Firm

Our middle ground, right for most people and positions.

    • Extra Firm

Firm support that makes shifting and sitting up easier.

    • Ultra Firm

A very solid surface for those who want almost no give.

  3. We build it and bring it

Your mattress is made by hand, one at a time, then delivered with your bed. If your needs change, the zippered cover lets the firmness change too.

Hospital Beds for Mesa Homes

Mesa is large and varied, and so are the bedrooms we deliver to. Here is what we have learned, and the questions Mesa callers ask us first.

Winter residents and seasonal needs

Every fall, Mesa welcomes thousands of winter visitors to its RV resorts, park models and 55-plus communities. A hip replacement or a new diagnosis does not wait for the move back north. If you need a hi-low bed for the season, ask us about rentals on selected beds, or about a bed and Latexpedic mattress you can keep using year after year.

Smaller rooms, narrower doors

Manufactured homes, park models and casitas often have tighter hallways and bedrooms than a site-built house. Measure every doorway on the way to the bedroom and the room itself before you call, and we will tell you which beds and sizes fit. Twin XL hi-low beds and the wall-hugging Supernal 3 are frequent choices.

Coming home from an East Valley hospital

Many Mesa calls follow a stay at Banner Desert Medical Center, Banner Baywood Medical Center or Mountain Vista Medical Center, when a discharge planner suggests a hospital bed. Call as soon as a date is set, and we will confirm the bed, the size and the delivery and set-up so it is ready when you get home.

Mesa questions

Do you deliver and set up beds in Mesa?

Yes. Electropedic Phoenix delivers and sets up hi-low beds and Latexpedic mattresses in Mesa. Call 800-733-1818 to schedule.

How far is your showroom from Mesa?

About 18 miles from downtown Mesa, usually 25 to 40 minutes by car. East Mesa and Red Mountain are farther. The map at the bottom of this page shows today's route.

Will a hi-low bed fit in a park model or manufactured home?

Often, yes. Send us your doorway and room measurements and a specialist will confirm which beds and sizes fit before anything is delivered.

Can I rent a bed just for the winter?

Rentals are available on selected hospital beds. Call the Phoenix showroom for current availability and terms for the length of your stay.

Can the bed be set level with a wheelchair?

Yes. Hi-low beds such as the Flexabed Hi-Low SL raise and lower vertically, so the mattress can match the wheelchair seat height. Ask a therapist about the safest transfer method for you.
